Act I: Background
Sky Blade Knives
Todd has been a custom knifemaker for years. His brand, Sky Blade Knives, offers some of the most beautiful knives I’ve ever seen. Todd’s knives are truly “art with an edge.”
Act II: The Attack
These photos show Todd in the minutes after the attack, after walking 3 miles to his truck, and before driving himself to the hospital.
Act III: Aftermath

Hindsight
This was such a gripping story. Todd tells it masterfully and I had very visceral emotions listening to him describe being thrown around like a rag doll by that bear. This is a rare account of someone surviving something that very few people live to tell about.
One thing that annoyed me about this episode is how crappy my audio is. Why is that? I specifically remember recording this one, sitting on the end of the couch in my living room – not a very different setup from most other recordings. I have no idea why my audio is so awful. Meanwhile, Rich’s audio is fantastic – it feels like you’re sitting down for a glass of scotch with him.
On the other hand, it was super cool to hear – at the very end – how Rich and I decided to record an episode about the U.S.S. Indianapolis. Recording this show was so much fun. I miss it terribly – the conversations, the camaraderie, just having a cool project like that to focus.
